Based in Otley, I love exploring the Yorkshire Dales (Herriot Country), and working mainly ‘en plein air’ I try to capture the spirit of this amazing landscape through watercolour painting. Constantly changing, always alluring, the Yorkshire Dales holds a very special place in my heart. Whilst working in the landscape, time stands still, as I endeavour to represent the spirit of the scene. Hours escape unnoticed as artist and landscape become one. It is only by being there, that you form a special bond. With the light constantly altering, it is a privilege to witness how the atmosphere and mood of the landscape change so dramatically.
The town of Knaresborough is a particular favourite and I thoroughly enjoy capturing the magnificent viaduct that spans the River Nidd.
From mid-April through to December (whether permitting) I showcase my work at Knaresborough market (Wednesday) and Wetherby or York (Thursday). Here I get to talk to members of the public and discuss my w
The town of Knaresborough is a particular favourite and I thoroughly enjoy capturing the magnificent viaduct that spans the River Nidd.
From mid-April through to December (whether permitting) I showcase my work at Knaresborough market (Wednesday) and Wetherby or York (Thursday). Here I get to talk to members of the public and discuss my work in a relaxed and friendly setting. Many have become friends. On the stall I sell both original artwork and signed prints (framed or unframed) together with greeting cards.
I have been very supported and am delighted that my original artwork is hung in over twenty two different countries from New Zealand to Alaska
I was very honoured to be filmed painting on the set of Emmerdale and was made most welcome by all.
Watercolour painting isn’t a job but a passion.
